Searchable databases from information provided by the IW Register Office for Civil Registration which commenced in July 1837 in England and Wales.
Note : Prior to July 1837, Parish Registers (which are NOT indexed in this system, and which are held by the County Record Office) were used to record Baptisms, Marriages and Burials.
A useful website which documents the LDS (FamilySearch) holdings (of Baptisms and Marriages) is FamilySearch : A Guide to the British Batches by Steve Archer.
If your search is successful, for a fee you can apply to the IW Register Office for a copy of the Birth, Marriage or Death Certificate. You can now do this online - see IW Council Online Forms (Registration). Please note - this can only be used by UK residents. If you wish to order certificates from abroad, you will need to contact Registration Services to make arrangements for ordering and payment.
The Bereavement Services Section of the Isle of Wight Council should be contacted if you are trying to find details of where someone was buried, or if they were cremated on the Island
