Morris Family Bible
Malcolm Russell has sent us details of a family Bible which he bought in a job lot some years ago
His research into the family goes as follows :

As family history is one of my many interests I spent a lot of time trying to
piece together family trees for Morris families on the island, even
meeting with some of them with the intention of passing on the Bible to
an interested family, but without success.
One clue is the Sunday School award(?) for 1895 for Wilfred J Morris of
Watchingwell. In the 1911 census he is aged 22 with his parents at Lower
Watchingwell. His death is recorded on the Deaths page in the Bible as
23 Nov 1969. No other reference to him in the Bible and his parents are
not mentioned in the bible.
Another Morris couple, Frederick William and Rhoda Sarah (Downer) are
mentioned and their twin sons Ronald and Stanley who did not survive
infancy. No other births shown. I had assumed that the Bible came from
Lower or Upper Watchingwell but now realise that is possibly not so.
Rhoda was the last of this family to die in 1948. The Bible then appears
to be with another Morris family until Wilfred James died in 1969.

The Bible has now been rehomed with a local family.
