THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY HIS BEREAVED WIDOW
TO HIS DEAR MEMORY.
HE WAS BORN OCTOBER 16TH 1801,
AND DIED AT BORDIGHERA IN ITALY, MARCH 18TH 1890.

THOU WILL SHEW ME THE PATH OF LIFE; IN THY
PRESENCE IS FULNESS OF JOY. PSALM.XVI.II.

The 1871 and 1881 Census returns show the Rev Bowen and his wife Catherine at Heatherwood, Freshwater; both were born in Ireland.

BREWER, Melville
IN LOVING MEMORY

MELVILLE BREWER,
ROYAL NAVAL DIVISION,
WHO WAS KILLED IN ACTION AT GALLIPOLI
JUNE 1915, AGED 26 YEARS.

Son of Alexander H and Louisa Schinack Brewer. The 1901 Census shows the family at 136, Richmond Road, Hackney, London; their connection with Totland Bay is unclear.

BURNETT, Francis Ainger
To the Glory of God and in loving memory of Francis Ainger Burnett, Lieut.t. 1st.
Battn. Shropshire Light Infantry. Born 2nd May 1868 Lost 10th Octr 1892
in the wreck of the S S Bokhara on Sand Island, Pescadores, China Seas.

Son of Frederic Wildman and Henrietta Burnett. Francis Ainger Burnett was born in Brighton; the 1871 Census shows the family at St George Square, St George, London;
the 1881 Census shows him at school at Winchester College.
Lt. Burnett was a member of the Hong Kong Cricket team returning from a match in Shanghai; the P&O vessel SS Bokhara was lost in a typhoon.

Died aged 82, Born in Streatham, London in 1822, he was a Barrister. In the 1891 and 1901 Census returns the family are shown at Hurst View, Weston Road, Totland.

The 1901 Census shows William Carles Downer, a Builder, with his wife Lillie and 2 month old son Wilfrid, at Hurst Hill Cottages, Totland

FOX, Edwin
These windows are erected by many who appreciated
his worth in affectionate memory of Edwin Fox
who took a deep interest in this parish and was
for several years a Warden of this Church, 1895. Edwin Fox died in 1892 aged 69.

The 1891 Census shows Edwin Fox and his wife Margaret living at Granville Road, Freshwater, Totland

KERRIDGE, Emma
In loving and grateful memory of
EMMA KERRIDGE, who gave
75 years of her life to the care
and comfort of others in the
family of MRS. EDWARD HUME
and who worshipped in this Church
for many years. Born 1839 - Died 1930.
Her life is a lasting inspiration
to all who knew her.

Emma Kerridge was born in Islington. She was employed by the Hume family as a Nurse, and latterly as their Housekeeper. It is assumed that the family moved to Totland, taking the household servants with them, as Emma Kerridge died on the Isle of Wight.

This tablet was erected by Anna Maria
May daughter-in-law and Sister-in-law
of the above

Catherine Elizabeth May died aged 65 on the Isle of Wight; Anne Elizabeth Catherine May died aged 31 (death registered in Camberwell). The two ladies are shown on the 1871 Census at Gould's Green, Hayes, living with Henry W May, the son of Catherine May. Their connection with Totland is not known.

James Ernest Needham died on the Isle of Wight in 1936 aged 61.
