All Saints' Church was built in the 1870s and became the Parish Church of Ryde, which previously had been covered by all Saints' Church, Newchurch.

The Shipton Railway accident occurred at Shipton-on-Cherwell, Oxfordshire as a result of a defective wheel tyre, causing a derailment. 34 people were killed; another 69 injured.

Nellie Edith Fenner married Henry Sweetman in Lewisham in 1874. A daughter christened Nellie Edith, was born a few days before her mother's death.
