Photograph, Postcard and Autograph Albums

On these pages we present albums of photographs, and autograph or commonplace albums, which have been gifted to us.

Bowen Postcard Donation - a set of Isle of Wight postcards, donated by Gwen Bowen in 2016. The cards are typical of the period from 1900 to the early 1960s.

Terry Autograph Album - images provided by Kevin Murphy, this covers the period 1926 - 1930 and probably belonged to a member of the Terry family. There are some excellent drawings by Gerard Patrick Cunningham, a commercial illustrator.

Fan's Autograph Album - gifted by Eileen Clark in Australia, this covers the period 1911 - 1924 and probably belonged to a young lady in domestic service in Shanklin, although some of the entries are from further afield

Amy's Autograph Album - gifted by Ainsley Alexander in Cheshire, this covers the period 1904 - 1908 and belonged to Amy Adelaide Coombes of Ryde. Most of the entries are from Ryde people, although some of the entries are from further afield

Guy Military Album - gifted by Kåre Eriksson in Sweden, this covers the period 1914 - 1920 (and 1 from 1935) and belonged to a member of the GUY family of Arreton. Some of the cards show the Guy family and friends; many are unknown.

Guy Family and Friends Album - gifted by Kåre Eriksson in Sweden, this covers the period 1911 - 1925 and belonged to a member of the GUY family of Arreton. Some of the cards show the Guy family and friends; many are unknown. There are also a number of cards showing members of the St John's Athletic Club of Newport.

An anonymous Photograph Album - gifted by an unknown donor, this covers the period 1933 - 37 and belonged to a person who had made 2 holiday trips to Ventnor. None of the people depicted have been identified. There are some pictures of vessels off Cowes.

An anonymous Photograph Album - gifted by an unknown donor, this covers the period 1928 - 29 and belonged to a person who had made a holiday trip to the Isle of Wight, based at Shanklin. None of the people depicted have been identified. There are pictures of many of the usual sights such as Shanklin Chine, Bonchurch Pond, etc.
